I have a name and a story to tell. My life is full of fascinating adventures. No fairy tale ending here, With no heroes or heroines to rescue me. I fight many battles everyday. Braving nature's elements. Sleeping wherever I can find some solace and scrounging for each morsel of food I put in my mouth. It all takes a toll on my weak frail body. Behind my unkept hair, weathered skin and tattered clothes, You will see that I am human just as you. At one time that twinkle in my eye was not just a glimmer but as bright as a star, with so many dreams and plans for my life. And in an instant my life changed. Just like clockwork, the sun rises to the start of a new day. For I am thankful to be alive. I find good in all the little things in life that you take for granted in your hurried and materialistic lives. Moments that don't cost a thing but are worth their weight in gold to the heart. Homelessness touches all ages, genders and nationalities. We are all one family on this planet. What if we thought of the whole world as our neighborhood, showing compassion to all? We are all made from the same flesh. So I ask, will you turn your back on your brothers?

There is a gift that remains unopened. Tucked away in a dark corner, With tattered paper and bow still intact. Covered in a veil of dust, Just waiting to be discovered. The gift is not ordinary by any standards. It cannot be opened by conventional means. When the secret is revealed and it opens, The magic is unleashed. One of great power and transformation. It touches a void that longs to be noticed and filled. Give only love and kindness to all. A smile, kind word or a warm embrace. To touch the heart of another with a joyful spirit, Is truly the greatest gift of all. |
