Children are suffering from stress and anxiety in epic proportions with society's pressure on them to perform and excel in school, sports, and extracurricular activities. I had a conversation with both my children on the same day discussing some of the daily anxiety they were experiencing. Hearing my son say he didn't know how to relax, triggered me to jump into action in researching products out there to assist. Learning to relax takes practice and time to master. Getting outdoors and regular exercise are a great start in assisting but let's take it to the next level. There are some amazing meditation and mindful practice tools out there that children and young adults can use to help create some more zen in their lives. Meditation is not just a tool to relieve stress and anxiety. It can assist with improvement in other areas as well, such as: creativity and focus skills, compassion for others, pain management, health and overall well-being.
This is a compilation of thought-provoking reads that may challenge some deep rooted perceptions of yourself and the world. I've read many of these, and the others are on my ever growing "to read" list. Some of these have brought me a great deal of peace and comfort in my life, as well as being instrumental in me making some profound changes.
